Research and Planning - Good vs Bad Trailer Examples

This is England

This is England is a good example of a Social realist trailer as it uses a good location and it is the sort of location my group are wanting to use. It gets straight to the point by showing the main character - a troubled boy. It tells us straight away within the first 30 seconds that he is getting bullied for his trousers. We then see him getting into a fight and getting into all sorts of mischief as he makes new friends. We see him confess that he like a girl and then they are holding hands. Then we see him break the law by shoplifting which is something expected within a social realist trailer. It has given my group ideas for our trailer as we are going to stick to the breaking the law theme by doing ours based on drugs and law breaking.

This is a bad example trailer for my group to look at because the location is somewhere abroad called Costa Del Sol which is in Spain and we wont be able to use a setting like this. We are going to stick to the traditional council estate if possible so it will put across the genre throughout the clip. We were also thinking about using younger actors that are in their teens rather than adults which are used in this film. This is because we think younger people might relate to our trailer more as teenagers go through a lot.
