Research and Planning - The Chase

The Chase

This is a clip that we made to see what we know about making short clips and editing them together. We got asked to create a clip called The Chase that was between 1-2 minutes long and this is the only information and help we got. In our group there was Jake, Becky and me and we decided to create a storyboard of the different shots that we were going to use which helped us when we came to filming it. Jake was the camera man, Becky was the creep and I was the victim.

Research and Planning - Genre

Horror
Horror Films seek a negative emotional reaction from viewers by playing on the audiences fears and nightmares. They often include scenes which will startle viewers. Horror films usually have scenes following the character until they die. In Saw when they have been kidnapped, they keep going back to before it happened as a flashback so we get a better understanding of the character. Jigsaw then plays games with the victims threatening to kill family members as well as those characters. In horrors you expect to see blood and gory scenes. In horrors the lighting is low key.

Romance
In Romance films you usually see two characters, a male and a female who meet and throughout the film it follows their lives and they will keep meeting and eventually they will get to be together. Romance usually has a happy ending which is usually when the characters finally become a couple. In romantic films it is usually high key lighting.

Thriller
The main elements of a thriller film are tension, suspense and excitement. It often gives the audience a high level of anticipation, ultra heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and tension. Thrillers are usually fast paced and adrenaline rushing giving the audience a rush of emotions.

Social Realism
Social Realism films carry connotations of education and high seriousness. This is England illustrates their subculture became adapted. We see someone make an offensive joke at school and then a fight breaks out.
