Research and Planning - Plan For the Holidays

Over the holiday we plan to start filming our trailer so when we get back we can start editing it. We will also need to take pictures for our Magazines and Posters. I will try to do more research posts if I get time.

Research and Planning - Micro Element Role

I have the role of Editing and Sound. For this I will need to make sure that we have all the footage we need so when I edit it will all be in an order and will explain the story a little bit. I will be in charge of linking the scenes together and making it fade to black and adding any text to the screen for example the title shot and production logo. I will also have to make sure when we are recording that the digetic sound can be heard. I will also have to add any non digetic sounds over the top when editing it. This will include voiceovers which we will need to record separately.
For the editing I will use a software called iMovie which I can always use for the Voiceovers. For the soundtrack I will need to use a software called GarageBand.

I have created this Audition poster to inform people that we will be holding auditions for our film Warning. This will hopefully attract people to want to audition so we can select a cast.

For the second bad person they need to be confident and do what the first bad person tells them to as they see them as their leader. They also need to have a bad attitude and be comfortable with the drug storyline and pretend to take them. They need to be able to pressure/persuade the main character.

For the first bad person we need someone who can act as a leader and be bossy and likes to take charge. They need to be able to act persuasive and be able to pressure the main character. They need to be comfortable with the storyline of drugs as they will need to pretend to be taking them. They need to have an attitude and act bad and brake laws in the trailer.

For the main character we are looking for someone who's confident as they are going to be the person who's in the trailer the most. They need to be able to act vulnerable and innocent and be seen as someone who doesn't like doing bad things and abides by the law.
We need them to dress accordingly so would have to be comfortable wearing clothes which they may not usually choose to wear e.g. something smart to start off with and then a tracksuit later on.

My magazine will be aimed at Teenagers and Young Adults as this is what audience my film trailer will be aimed at. I would like it to be published in Big supermarkets however as its an independent company the budget may not allow this so it will mainly be sold in newsagents.

For my film Trailer we will advertise at bus stops as our budget wont be big and lots of people get the bus so it will attract them to it when they are waiting.

I will also have film posters which we can put up at bus stops and around the town. As we are independent our film will probably only be shown in certain small cinemas for example one that specialises in independent company films.

For my Magazine I will probably use similar, if not the same costumes as I will for on the poster. As we are doing a social realist film we think the characters should be wearing Tracksuits and trainers all the time to give it the 'chav' element that is portrayed through the genre. Also if the same costumes and characters are used it will let people know that it is the same film and make it more recognisable.

For the props we are thinking of using a toy gun and some pretend drugs as we associate social realism with bad behaviour.

Today we have had a group meeting and have decided we are going to do our storyboard for the end of the week. We have decided we are going to use the drug theme for it. We have discussed some locations that we can use; Hyde, Denton and Haughton Green.

For our Social realist film we are planning to target a audience that is quite young. We want to give it a 15 Certificate so we are going to aim it at people 15 years old and older. We plan to do this by using people around this age in the trailer as the main characters as we think the younger audience will relate to it more and it will attract them to watch it.

Research and Planning - Film Magazine Analysis

On the front cover of this Film Magazine 'Empire' We can see a large picture of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). This implies that the main content of the magazine is about the film Harry Potter. The shot type used is a medium close up, this allows the audience to see his facial features and expression very clearly. We can clearly see the blood and cuts on his face suggesting that the film involves violence and could be rated for an older audience like teenagers. As the background of the picture of Harry is low key lit, the white and red text really stand out - especially the red of the title. The red title also carries connotations of the blood and violence that is displayed in the film and the cuts on Harrys face.
 I like the layout of the magazine as it is done neatly and is quite simple as it includes very few images and not too much text. Another reason why we know the film is violent is that as a little sub heading for the main story it says "Harry comes out fighting".

This film magazine is called 'Total Film' and the main storyline of it is James Bond. We can tell this as he is on the front and it is a mid shot picture of him, also it says 'BOND' in big silver letters underneath the image of him.. We can tell which James Bond film it is by the sign on the building in the background as it says 'Casino Royale'. I think this magazine would look better without the grey border around it. However the text probably stands out more on the border. I like how they've stuck to the three colour rule and how they have included simple and easy to read fonts.

This is a poster for a film called Juno which is a comedy drama. The poster includes an image of both the main characters in the film. The colours used are bright and make the film seem like it is happy. The background is striped like the woman's top and it also uses the same colours for the stripes. Both the characters are young and you can tell this by the clothes they are wearing. We can tell from the picture that the female main character is pregnant and under the title of the film it says " A comedy about growing up ...and the bumps along the way."  This gives us a glimpse of some of the humour that is included in the film as when it says 'bumps' its referring to both the journey of growing up and the fact that she is pregnant.
It has a long shot for both characters showing what there fashion sense is like and so we can clearly tell that the woman is pregnant.
I think the audience for this film is aimed at teenagers as the main characters are teens and they are most likely to be able to relate to some of the stuff that happen as they are at the same stage in life as the characters are.

This is a film poster for She's the man. This film is a romantic comedy about a girl who pretends to be her brother while he goes away to London so she takes his place at school all just to play football and beat her schools football team. The poster includes pictures of the main characters, theses are all longshots of the people. It also gives a bit of the story away at the top but it also makes it sound very confusing which will make people want to see it to know what its going on about.
 The text is done in black and red this matches the colours of the title. It also includes the names of the main actors as this might persuade some people to watch it. I think this film is aimed at teenagers as they can relate to the film as it follows people at school.

I will be using an Apple Mac for the majority of my work, however if I do anything at home that I need a computer for I will be using my Dell Laptop.

I might use an tripod for any shots where the camera needs to stay still as it will be more stable than holding the camera.

I will be using Photoshop for my film magazine cover and poster. I might also  need to edit some picture that I take on this.

Garageband

I will be using Garageband to create a score and sounds for my trailer. As I haven't used this software before I will need to test it out.

I will be using Blogger to upload my progress to, this is so that the examiner can give me feedback throughout the project.

iMovie

I will be using iMovie to edit the footage I get and put it together. This software is fairly new to me however I have created a little 'Chase' clip and edited it using this software to help me get used to it.

iPhoto

I will use iPhoto to import my pictures I take on the camera to get them onto the computer.
