What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
This question consisted of me looking over all the feedback that I have received over the past year.

I interviewed a few people and asked them questions to do with what they would expect to see in trailers. These are the questions I asked

I interviewed a few people and asked them questions to do with what they would expect to see in trailers. These are the questions I asked
Would you ever watch a Social realist film?

What age should I aim it at?

This was very useful as they helped us get ideas of what to do for our trailer. The videos for these are on my blog.
Pitch:
I also created a pitch which we had to present and then we got some feedback this helped me to discover what the typical codes and conventions are for a teaser trailer. It really helped with what conventions should be used in the genre Social Realist as well.
Questionnaires:
I created some questionnaires on the computer and printed them out and handed them to my classmates and some other people of the older generation this was to get opinions from people of different ages and to help decipher who my audience would be.
PollJunkie:
I created an online Questionnaire on a site called PollJunkie. This was a good way to collect results as it puts all the responses together to give a percent for each answer this made it easier to look at as it saved time as I didn't have to search through different bits of paper to calculate the results myself. This gave me more time to spend on other things to help with the project. It was easy to find people to fill it out as I could just send them the link and ask them nicely to fill it out. Also I think its a bit different to the usual way to collect a questionnaire.
Proposals:
Me and my partner then came up with some proposals we used the audience feedback we had got already to help us with it. We came up with a few ideas all with teenagers being the main characters as our feedback told us they would like the teenager involved as they are more likely to get up to mischief. We then decided on a proposal to use after asking our potential target audience what they thought of them and which they would like to see, However later into our Planning we decided to change from the original proposal slightly. It still will include drugs and a council estate as this is the typical conventions for social realism and it is what our audience wants but we decided that by changing it slightly it would make a better story-line for people to watch. Hopefully attracting a bigger audience. We asked a few people about the new idea and they agreed it would make a better story-line.
Name Ideas:
We came up with a few different name ideas for our trailer and then asked the audience if they had any better ones, we then made a list of all the names and asked people what it should be called we then had a main list of the ones everyone thought were most appropriate. We had a bit of trouble deciding on the best one at first as we thought 2 of them would really suit the trailer however after much more debate and asking a few more different potential target audience members we decided on 'Warning'.
Magazine Name:
After focusing on my trailer so much I had to start thinking about my Magazine and try to split my time so I could work on both of them. I came up with a few different names for my magazine but nothing really suited it so I got some help from some of my friends and came up with a few new ones which I then got a different group of peoples opinions on so it wasn't biased and decided to call it 'Movie Madness'.
Teacher Feedback:
Getting any kind of feedback was useful but the teacher helped a lot as he really knows about social realist films. He would give ideas to what we should include and told us what he thought maybe shouldn't be included. During the research stage he would give me films to look at and research as I didn't really know about social realism films. He lent me a DVD to a film called 'A Room for Romeo Brass' which I watched and that helped with my understanding of the genre and helped generate ideas for my trailer.
Trailer Feedback:
After making a first draft for the trailer I got some feedback from my friends and the teacher to help to make it better. We knew it needed a lot more work but we just needed a bit more help as to what direction we should take next. Our teacher gave us a video to watch to do with shot types and suggested trying some of them out to put in our trailer. We then took this advice on board and went to film shot types such as of the feet, the camera behind a character following them s you can see the back of their head and slightly over the shoulder etc.
As some of the shots were too long and feedback we received thought so too we decided to add jump-cuts so we would cut the middle of the clip of making the clip short and snappy.
Poster/Magazine:
I received some feedback from my classmates on my poster and magazine and we decided that I should use different fonts on them both as it would suit it better. I then asked them if it was better and they agreed the font complimented it but decided I should make my poster title a bit of a duller colour as it was bright yellow. I decided to experiment and turn the opacity down which made it less bright but bright enough to still be readable and to stand out to people which gives it a good effect. With my magazine the font was originally a bit too posh so I went for something a bit more basic so it would go better. I also think it now goes with my genre a lot more keeping consistency throughout.

Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
Fonts:
The font for my film poster title is the same one that I have used on my magazine to advertise my film I have done this so it is recognizable. I have used the same font throughout my magazine for my Masthead, Tagline and the Coverlines as well as on my poster for the release date. This keeps continuity between the two of them.
Images:
The image on my poster is of the council flats where we filmed some of our trailer. The image on my magazine is of one of the main characters who is a drug dealer in our trailer. This was also taken in the area where we filmed our trailer. Our trailer was filmed in Haughton Green and the flats included are called High Rise Flats which you can see in the trailer numerous times so this is why I thought to use an image of them on my poster as it sets the scene before the audience gets to watch it.
Character Representation:
They are all portrayed as bad as they are drug dealers fighting for the same 'turf'. This is also seen through hoodies which are worn throughout and the main character on my magazine is also wearing one for the picture.
Actor:
One of the actors in our trailer also features on my magazine to keep continuity and so my audience gets a feel for the main story which is included in my magazine.
Lighting:
Originally we were going to have our trailer low key lighting, However that changed when we did some more filming and the only time everyone was available was in the day. I don't think that having high key lighting effects the trailer too much as it just shows that this sort of thing goes on in the daytime as well as at night.
My Magazine has a high key lighting picture just like in the film to show the continuity between the two and to make it more recognizable.
On my Poster I have used a low key lighting picture as it portrays the film as being 'dark' in the sense of the activities involved and not the lighting.
